NURSERY

The Bible tells us children are a reward from God. At Gulf Coast Community Church of Brandon, we endeavor to care for our little ones, mindful of the sacred privilege and responsibility that we have been granted. Our goal as a church is to reinforce but not replace parents in their primary role of nurturing and training their children. Our Sunday morning nursery (for ages 0 – 5) is fun-filled with stories, activities, songs and crafts.

Our goal is to build a foundation of truth in the lives of infants and toddlers, so we use “A Sure Foundation” curriculum in our class. This curriculum presents great truths about God in simple words, to show glimpses of who God is through the telling of key Bible stories and relate those back to Jesus. We cover one story for the entire month so that if a child misses a week, that’s ok, they won’t miss out! This repetitive style of teaching helps each child to remember more and more each week. If your child is 0-2 years old, we do engage them with more age appropriate learning during the teaching time by using songs and/or pictures. Our prayer is “that the next generation… would put their trust in God” (Psalm 78:1-7).

Each child’s safety is also a priority. We use a five-part safety system which includes thorough background checks, screening, and supervision.  Each week you will see one teacher and one helper in the room for accountability and to improve the teaching environment.

We truly believe that coming along side parents and teaching children at such a young age is critically important. Although we may not see the impact right now, we are helping plant seeds for their future. By grace, we have often seen God at work in our children, and we are honored to be a part of their journey with Christ.

PLEASE NOTE: During COVID, our nursery will only be serving ages 0-3. If you have children who are 4-5 years of age, we would encourage you to bring items such as coloring books, sticker books, or Bible themed activities for them to work on during the worship service and teaching times.

We incorporate the five-part MinistrySafe safety system.

THE BREAKOUT!

The BREAKOUT! Children’s Ministry is for kids from 5 years old up to 5th grade. During BREAKOUT! our kids join together in the classroom for tailored Christ-centered teaching filled with games, age-appropriate lessons and questions, and skill and knowledge-building activities. While in the classroom, our young people learn God’s Word, they memorize Scripture, and together we unpack Sunday morning sermons to help lead and grow the next generation for Christ. Each lesson is carefully taught in a manner to show our elementary kids who Jesus is, what He has done for us and how we respond to that amazing Gospel message.

Each child’s safety is also a priority. We use a five-part safety system (MinistrySafe) which includes thorough background checks, screening, and supervision. Each week you will see one teacher and one helper in the room for accountability and to improve the teaching environment. The classroom is also thoroughly sanitized before and after every meeting.

BREAKOUT! is held every first and third Sunday of the month. Kids are dismissed from the main service immediately after we worship together as we believe singing and praising the Lord in worship is an important family time that is best done as a church body together.

We incorporate the five-part MinistrySafe safety system.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

At Gulf Coast Community Church of Brandon, we believe that Christian discipleship is critical at every age. Middle school students are no exception. They are at an exciting transition point of leaving childhood behind and grappling with big thoughts about God, the world, and themselves. Our goal is to maximize the opportunities in these years to grow each young person in the Gospel by engaging students in Scripture-saturated discussions that point to the beauty, glory, and necessity of Jesus Christ.

We believe that our role as a church ministry is to come alongside parents as they take on the essential task of guiding children through the teen years. We exist to support parents and provide meaningful community and discipleship for their middle school students.

Each young person’s safety is a priority. We use a five-part safety system which includes thorough background checks, screening, and supervision. Any meeting with youth under 18 years of age will always have at least two adults present for both added accountability and improving the mentoring environment.

YOUTH AND COLLEGE

The Youth and College Group is for high school aged students and college-aged adults. Through age appropriate teaching and fellowship, our goals are to see every high school student and young adult explore Christianity deeply, take ownership of their faith in Jesus, and thrive in a loving Christ-centered community. In this role, we seek to reinforce but not replace parents in their primary role of nurturing, training, and leading their children.

We accomplish our goals by exploring various books of the Bible and examining materials and books from well-known Christian authors like Tim Keller and John Piper. We always endeavor to encourage the youth and young adults in their walk, both in our church and in our community, to become faithful servants of Jesus and our next generation of Christ-minded leaders.

We meet every other Sunday in the early afternoon and plan additional events and activities throughout the year. We typically meet at the Youth and College Group Leaders’ home. We update our calendar on Google Docs every quarter and meetings are confirmed via text message.

WOMEN’S

The Christian life isn’t meant to be lived out alone. At Gulf Coast Brandon, we know that fellowship with one another is essential to a life of spiritual health and obedience to the Scriptures. That fellowship takes many different forms–care groups, Sunday worship, serving together–but woman-to-woman relationships are key. Spending time with other women, away from the push and pull of other responsibilities, allows us to open up and grow more deeply together.

We try to facilitate those key relationships through a variety of opportunities. We host informal social gatherings as well as periodic women’s Bible studies. For those women who are wanting to go deeper, we offer Life on Life discipleship groups for weekly study, discussion, and grace-filled accountability. We are better together!
